First 200 Mile Week

Last week was great fun, I rode every day (which isn’t that unusual) but I rode the 18 miles home each day (which is) and loved every minute of it. I am really starting to feel very fit and healthy and I am surprised at the level of exercise needed before I began to be comfortable with daily 27 mile totals.

There is no doubt that good weather helps and we have been very lucky so far this Summer with only a few showers and no real bad weather that would stop me riding. Cycling has always been a very important part of my life but with so much research now indicating that type 1 diabetics can extend their lifespan by healthy eating and regular exercise I feel that I am now doing a lot towards that.

There have been a few articles recently that show that a type 1 diabetic will typically live until the age of 67, I find this totally unacceptable and I am determined to do all that I can to be on the right hand side of the bell curve!
