I am a 54 year old dad and husband originally from Scotland and I work as the Webmaster for the Lutheran Health Network in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During the summer of 2012 we moved to New Haven, Indiana from Scotland. My spare time revolves around cycling and planning trips away from the usual places. As a Type 1 diabetic I try my best to look after myself but I also won’t let it stop me going on adventures! Since moving to the USA I have started using an insulin pump instead of injections. This gives me much more flexibility when exercising and I managing to keep my diabetes tightly controlled (A1C is currently 5.4).
I have never owned a car and commuting by bicycle has long been my favorite form of transport. Fort Wayne has an excellent trail system and with some careful planning, and the right equipment, it is possible to ride almost every day of the year. Although this website will contain posts about my rides in other parts of the country, and other countries, the primary focus will be Fort Wayne and the surrounding area.
